Why is it that the classical music world is seen as a totally separate entity to the rest of the music world? In all the time that we have been running this site we have probably seen one or two classical musicians on here but everyone else seems to be only interested in more popular genres. We are here to help. Start by going to the musicians forum and and creating a post. Just write your ad and then start connecting with other performers.
As a second step to forming a new classical or orchestral ensemble you could have a look at some of these currently working groups. Classical Musician for Hire shows some great ensembles who are currently gigging around the UK. Try to take some leads from what they are doing and emulate that within your new band.
Getting to back to the point which I started at the top of this page, why is that the classical world is separate to the rest of the music industry? Do a group of guys (and girls) get together and just jam out some Beethoven or Mozart? Does a conductor just call a bunch of his mates and say "want to come round to my place and bash through some Wagner followed by a few beers? That is exactly what happens in most other types of music, jazz, rock, folk and various other genres that could be listed.
The whole aim of this site is to promote the forming of new bands and musical projects. We would like to think that a bunch of violinists and oboe players are reading this and already planning some jams and impromptu concerts. Check out these classical musicians for weddings and see if the concerts that they are doing would interest you. It could be the case that you can make some extra money for your new ensemble by performing at weddings.
String Quartet - Two violins, one viola and one cello make up the traditional string quartet. There is an amazingly vast catalogue of repertoire for the string quartet. Everyone from Beethoven, to Mahler and every other notable composer wrote at least one piece for the quartet.
Orchestra - This may be a little ambitious but it certainly not outside the realms of possibility to get together a small orchestra. Large groups like orchestras and big bands often take a while to get going but once you get a few people involved the whole thing starts to snowball.
Classical Duo - There is no reason to go crazy and start planning the London Symphony Orchestra Two. You could definitely create a great new musical project with just two people. Start searching for Classical Musician Wanted today!
