SUMER (melodic post-metal/post-prog) are looking for a bass slinger to replace our current sister by another mister, before she leaves us in the pursuit of real life. We’re keen for another girl to join our ranks, but we are fully open to anyone.
We have one critically acclaimed debut album, The Animal You Are, under our belts along with a nomination in 2015 The Orange Amplification Progressive Music Awards as best newcomer and major festival appearances (past and upcoming) at Bloodstock Open Air, UK Tech-Fest, Tramlines, DesertFest and Mammothfest amongst others.
All of the info you might want is hopefully included below with links to our Youtube, Spotify, Bandcamp, website etc.
What are we after? Someone fearless, with a big stage presence, but most important to us are your skills, especially on the creative side. We write together, a lot of what we do comes from both jamming and idea development as a group. You will be a happy medium between technicality and inventiveness/creativity, ability to sing whether as backing or the occasional lead part is a nice to have, but not a deal breaker.
We are also mid-way through the writing process for album #2, which although many parts are being written by our current esteemed slinger, Taria, she sadly won’t be around when we come to record.
The most important characteristic you would demonstrate for Sumer is 100% is the ability to evolve yourself, your playing, our songs AND to always challenge yourself and the rest of us without it being to the detriment of the music. Less, is more. .. more or less.
You will have 6 months from now to learn our first album throughout and catch up on the writing with our second underway album.
Because we are spread throughout London, Guildford and Portsmouth we rehearse once a week in either Woking or Guildford (30 or 35 mins respectively from London Waterloo)
All the usual givens apply when it comes to gigging – own bass, gear, transport (a big bonus, although one of us living in London does without….. just.)
We are very active with shows and festivals in general, so playing will be a very regular feature in your calendar throughout the year.
Any questions all, don’t hesitate to email us at email@example.com and we’ll take it from there.
PLEASE NOTE: If you are interested please make sure when you contact us that you include a track, video or both with your email. The more the better so we can get a feel for you and your style of playing.
Excited to hear back from you!
Tim, Ian, Taria, Jim, Toby
